🎥 The Story
Vince Berry’s journey began in Bay City, Michigan. A small but Powerful Black community and the sounds of the static - filled airwaves of the radio stations like WGPR 107.9 Soul shaped his love for music and identity. While finding it's way through the world.
Vince became the road manager for Dreamboy, guiding them from basement rehearsals in his (cousin) Joyce Fields’ (house) all the way to their record deal signing under Quincy Jones.
His family ties ran even deeper: he managed his cousin Lord G and Grammy-winning artist Fantastic Negrito.
It was Lord G who introduced Vince to Motown legend Norman Whitfield.
These connections became bridges between eras.
From Motown and soul to hip-hop and Eminem. Vince’s story threads across generations, carrying the legacy of Detroit’s music culture forward.
Is It Just My Imagination? Is the story of that journey — a story of brotherhood, resilience, and legacy. A story about the man behind the scenes who helped keep the music alive today.

Vince A. Berry
Executive Producer/Author/Songwriter
Vince Berry – Music Executive, Author & Creator of Is It Just My Imagination?
Vincent Berry is a talented and established personal/artist management consultant and marketing and promotions professional with over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry. He is highly skilled in artist development, branding, and strategic partnerships, maintaining long-standing relationships with major and independent record labels, distributors, management firms, music executives, producers, songwriters, and artists. Known for his leadership, creativity, and deal-making expertise, Vince has successfully generated revenue, increased brand equity, and elevated careers across multiple entertainment platforms.
His career began in the early 1980s in Bay City, Michigan, when he entered the music industry as road crew manager for Qwest/Warner Bros. recording artists Dreamboy, a group he met through George “Dewey” Twymon in Oak Park. Originally called Fresh, the band later changed their name to Dreamboy before being signed by Quincy Jones. Vince became part of their team at that pivotal moment, helping promote and support their early success, including the breakout hit “Don’t Go” and national touring. This experience marked the official beginning of his professional journey in the music industry.
In addition to his early work with Dreamboy, Vince was instrumental in urban marketing and promotions for major companies like Philip Morris USA, branding national events including the Marlboro Grand Prix, Benson & Hedges Blues/Jazz Festivals, and Virginia Slims Music promotions. His success in marketing led him to key positions with Polygram, MCA, Red Ant, Black Orchid/Bellmark, and Native/Fontana Records, where he helped launch urban and hip-hop divisions, strengthen label visibility, and promote major talent.
As co-founder of The Entity Entertainment Group (TEE) and Smith-Berry Entertainment Marketing/Promotions and Management, Vince played a key role in developing and promoting artists such as Dreamboy, Ready For The World, Jade, Shai, Eminem, Militia, Xavier, Lord G, Terron Brooks, Troy Cash, and producers including Chris “Da Glove” Taylor, Curtis “Binky” Womack, and John Myers.
His professional career expanded further when he worked alongside the legendary Motown songwriter and producer Norman Whitfield, serving as Vice President of NJW Productions for nearly two decades until Whitfield’s passing in 2008. Vince continues to support the Norman J. Whitfield Foundation and Estate, helping preserve the legacy of one of Motown’s most influential figures.
Today, Vince Berry stands as the creator and author of Is It Just My Imagination? – A Journey with Dreamboy and Norman Whitfield, a powerful theatrical musical that tells his story of mentorship, resilience, and Detroit’s soulful legacy. The production bridges generations by celebrating the roots of R&B and the timeless artistry that defined an era.

Sheila Finn
Production manager/co-writer
Sheila Finn is the Owner of Sheila Finn Productions, who believes in helping others achieve their goals by
sowing into their visions. Sheila Finn is no stranger to the entertainment
business. During her 35 years of modeling she worked at
the Cobo Hall Auto Show, where she won an award for Model of
Distinction, and was able to travel throughout the United States.
In 2003, Sheila decided to create a Non-Profit organization that
would be a branch of existing after school programs. To better
her expertise, she attended Detroit Entrepreneurship Institute (DEI), and
with the support from family and friends started "Vision to Success." The school focused on helping
children and young adults in the performing arts. It
also provided classes in the areas of drama, communication,
etiquette, singing, modern dance, as well as ball-room & Hip
Hop dancing. Another strong aspect of this program was
encouraging our children to "say NO to drugs." Sheila Finn is also an accomplished Playwright and Producer, which began by writing skits for her church. She has written, "Just For The Love of Money," Deliver Us From Evil," and many more. Sheila is currently developing several stage and film projects, including "Is It... Just My Imagination," which will have its World Premiere on November 15th, 2025 at the Michael Guido Theater in Dearborn, MI.
Meet The Team
Lawrence Floyd
Director, Writer & Producer
Lawrence Floyd is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Obsidian Media Group and Co-Founder of Genesis East and West, Inc., a company dedicated to theatre, film, and television development. He also serves as Theatre Department Lead for the Charlotte Creative Arts Festival.
A multi-award-winning director, Lawrence and his team swept the AUDELCO Awards with Flambeaux: A Caribbean Musical, earning wins for Best Musical Production, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Choreography, and Best Musical Direction. He co-wrote the libretto and book for the show, which received six nominations and five wins.
His directing credits include Indelible and The Standard Upgrade; MISUNDERSTOOD; ResurGENTs: The Reappearance of Hope (winner, MITF Best Choreography), Black Man Rising, and the world premiere of Watch the Throne at Black Spectrum Theatre. His work has appeared at the National Black Theatre Festival, Dr. Barbara Ann Teer’s National Black Theatre, Players Theatre, and internationally in Bermuda.
Mentored by the late Ray Aranha, Lawrence studied playwrighting with Leslie Lee, PJ Gibson, Laurence Holder, and Cassandra Medley, and directing with Yale alumni Jackson Gay, May Alvares, and Juilliard’s Daniel Goldstein. He teaches screenwriting at S.I.C. Film School at Lionsgate, is a theatre coach, and a proud member of Equity, SAG-AFTRA, and the Actors Studio.
Currently, Lawrence is developing new literary and theatrical projects, including a follow-up to Dr. Myrah Brown Green’s Brooklyn On My Mind, an untitled “Redd Foxx” project with Gil Tucker, and a historical retelling of the fall of Las Vegas’s first integrated casino, the Moulin Rouge.

Dwight Baxter
Producer, Director, Choreographer, Playwright
Dwight Baxter is an acclaimed producer, director, choreographer, playwright, and lifelong advocate for the performing arts. A Broadway veteran, his credits include The Wiz, A Chorus Line, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Woman of the Year, Guys and Dolls, and more. He has appeared in films and TV including The Wiz, Beat Street, and The Last Dragon. As a producer, Dwight has staged original musicals featuring Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams, Gerald Levert, Mo’Nique, Johnny Gill, and Clifton Powell. Currently, he serves as Producer and Consultant for Is It Just My Imagination?, premiering November 15, 2025, honoring Vince Berry’s journey and Norman Whitfield’s Motown legacy.

Tony Wilson
Technical Director
Tony Wilson, is a knowledgeable humble soul with an infectious passion for his work. He brings
to the table a wealth of experience spanning 30+ years in the entertainment industry. A native
of Detroit, MI. Tony earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Michigan
and went on to become manager, technical director, road manager, production manager, and
stage manager as he worked along side some of the biggest names in entertainment. Taking a
break from the national touring circuit, From 2000 to 2008, Tony was hired by Greektown
Casino to oversee their entertainment and audio visual departments where he was responsible
for a 2.5 million dollar budget. At Greektown Casino he produced Broadway style shows such
as “Sensuality” and “Velocity” that became the talk of the state as well as opening the first
nightlife club inside a casino in Michigan called “Rapture”. He currently operates his own
management, entertainment and production company and continues to produce shows and
events throughout the country. Tony’s motto “Totus mundus agit histrionem” (all the world is a
stage).
Michael J. Mindingall – Producer, Music Director & Songwriter
Michael J.Mindingall, a dynamic force from Detroit, is a powerhouse producer, musician, and songwriter whose life has been a symphony of musical triumphs.
From the moment he picked up the trombone in
elementary school, Michael’s journey was destined for greatness.
By highschool, he had mastered the piano, captivating audiences at his local church.
His big break came as a pianist for the legendary Jenifer Holiday, catapulting him into the spotlight as a sought-after producer, writer,arranger, and keyboardist.
Michael’s magic touch has graced the works of music icons like Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, The Dramactics,The Temptations, Four Tops, Holland & Holland,Thomas Whitfield,Yolanda Adam’s, George Clinton,Keith Washington,Coko,Tyrese and many more.
His genius was recognized with a Grammy Award in 2006 for his Piano skills on Aretha Franklin’s tribute to Luther Vandross, “A House
Is Not a Home.”
Michael’s talent shone brightly in 1995 when he provided background
vocals for Diana Ross 2 sold out shows at the iconic Fox Theater during
her “Take Me Higher Tour.”
While studying at Henry Ford College, he was
handpicked as the music director for the play “Selma,” featuring Tommy
Butler and Redd Foxx. This pivotal moment led him to leave school and
dive headfirst into the music industry, where he became a recording
session producer and songwriter, crafting hits like the Detroit Lions’ theme
song.
In October 2005, Michael’s star continued to rise as he dazzled audiences
in Krefeld, Germany, at the Gospel Musik Festival. His original songs,
performed by 400 choir members, culminated in a breathtaking original
arrangement of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, earning a standing ovation.
In 2012, Michael’s expertise was called upon by Sony Pictures to teach
piano to Jordan Sparks for her role in “Sparkle,” Whitney Houston’s final
film.
Today, Michael Mindingall remains a vibrant force in the music
industry, producing television commercials, collaborating with top artists,
and creating unforgettable music.

As the founder and CEO of Death By Lipstick Productions (DBL), Jaunty is a songwriter, producer, and visionary entrepreneur who built her business from the ground up — giving artists the tools to thrive through an expert team that bridges creativity, business, and purpose.
Her journey began in the Reel 2 Real studio days, where she learned every layer of the creative process — from production and songwriting to artist development and branding. Those early years shaped the foundation for DBL, a women-led creative company devoted to independence, authenticity, and purpose. Bridging music, film, and entrepreneurship, Jaunty helps artists rise to the next level by unlocking their potential and teaching them how to build lasting, independent success. A self-made entrepreneur who built her business from the ground up, she founded DBL to merge passion with purpose — empowering artists to tell their stories, own their brands, and create financial freedom through creativity.
